John Tory mulling run for mayor: report

John Tory could enter his nomination in the race for Toronto’s next mayor as early as next week, the Toronto Star reported Tuesday.

The report says the former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader might run following the results of internal polling and the support of several individuals including former premier Mike Harris.

The Star cited sources close to Tory.

In a an email to CP24 Tuesday night, Tory says he has nothing new to say and wouldn’t give any interviews.

“I wish I could be more helpful but I find the interviews tough when I don’t have anything new to say and didn’t start the latest round,” he said.

Tory previously ran for mayor and lost against David Miller in 2003. Earlier this year, he said he would not be running in the election this fall and would pursue a “different course” including his radio job at Newstalk 1010 and chairing the Toronto City Summit Alliance
